The year 2017 is quickly coming to an end. Seems the older one gets, time progresses at lightning speed!
Back in July, I shared about the hand blown glass Christmas ornaments I purchased during my trips to Egypt, and how they were missing after my move to Montana. Well, the day after Thanksgiving, I put up my own Christmas tree in the living area just outside my bedroom. Since someone else is enjoying my glass ornaments (hopefully!), I used the ornaments I made of my seven grandchildren. They filled the tree and I love it!
As a grandparent, my seven grandchildren are worth much more to me than Egyptian hand blown glass ornaments. Even though grandchildren can cause heartache, I wouldn’t exchange any one of them for all the tea in China – or hand blown glass ornaments in Egypt!
I am so grateful for the Word of God and the encouragement for grandparents. Here are several verses that are promising to me.
“I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread” (Psalm 37:25).
“Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you” (Isaiah 46:4).
“But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children” (Psalm 103:17).
I am so thankful to the Lord for His sustaining grace and mercy. I’m also thankful for my husband of 50 years (now with the Lord); for our oldest child who went to heaven at just 13 months of age; for a wonderful daughter and son who, along with their spouses, have given us seven wonderful grandchildren.
I’m also grateful for so many loving friends who are a blessing and encouragement to me! Have a blessed Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our Savior!
